Disease Control

NOTE:  For the products for disease control listed below, one product trade name and formulation is provided for each active ingredient (common name) as an example of rates, days to harvest (dh), REI, and special instructions. In many cases there are other products available with the same active ingredient. Please see Table 22 and Alphabetical Listing by Trade Name for more information on products with the same active ingredients.

Leaf Spots and Blights ( Alternaria, Ascochyta, Cercospora, Powdery Mildew)

Plant resistant cultivars where available. Use cultural practices that minimize periods of leaf wetness such as plant spacing, planting in the direction of prevailing winds, and avoiding overhead irrigation. Promptly incorporate plant debris after harvest to speed decomposition.

azoxystrobin (Quadris): 6.0-15.5 fl oz/A. (0 dh, REI 4h, Group 11). Do not make more than one application before alternating with a fungicide with a different mode of action.

basic copper sulfate (Basic Copper 50W HB): 1.0-2.5 lb/A (0 dh, REI 48h, Group M1). Apply when disease first appears, and at 7 to 10 day intervals when necessary.

propiconazole (Tilt): 4.0 fl oz/A. (14 dh, REI 12h, Group 3).

pyraclostrobin (Cabrio): 8-12 oz/A. (0 dh, REI 12h, Group 11). Do not alternate with Quadris or Flint.

tebuconazole (Folicur 3.6 F): 3.0-7.0 fl oz/A. (7 dh, REI 12 h, Group 3). For optimum results use as a preventive treatment.

trifloxystrobin (Flint): 2.0-3.0 oz/A. (7 dh, REI 12h, Group 11). Do not alternate with Quadris or Cabrio.

Downy Mildew (Peronospora)

Plant resistant cultivars where available. Use cultural practices that minimize periods of leaf wetness such as plant spacing, planting in the direction of prevailing winds, and avoiding overhead irrigation. Promptly incorporate plant debris after harvest to speed decomposition.

mandipropamid (Revus): Swiss Chard only. 8.0 fl oz/A. (1 dh, REI 12h, Group 40. Addition of a spreading/penetrating type adjuvant is recommended.

mefenoxam (Ridomil Gold EC): 1.0-2.0 pt/A. (21 dh, REI 48 h, Group 4) 

Seed Decay

Plant on well-drained soil. Buy treated seeds. Do not use treated seed for food, feed or oil purposes.
